2017 Great American Eclipse by Mark D Phillips
August 21, 2017, produced one of the greatest three minutes in western North Carolina.
Millions of Americans had the opportunity to witness the greatest celestial event in our sky, a Total Solar Eclipse, that was viewed from coast to coast. My photo captured the moment the Baileys Bead and Diamond Ring burst into the North Carolina sky, with the added spectacle of Jupiter appearing in the darkened sky.
